At Schull CC, our Climate Change Activists work to raise awareness of issues to do with climate change, identify areas for action and engage with their peers and their teachers in a range of activities. They organise whole school climate protests and beach clean ups, they gather crisp packets, ink cartridges, aluminium and batteries for recycling and they have fitted bird boxes, bat boxes and an insect hotel on the college grounds and in the local community.
A current objective is to install a bottle-refill station on the college campus. Some of the organisations that these activists liaise with are; Tidy Towns, Repak Ireland, the Climate Ambassadors programme, National Spring Clean and Amnesty International.
