French Exchange
Established in 2005, the exchange between Schull Community College and College La Sine in Vence, near Nice in the South of France, has led to many friendships between students and families.
Approximately 20 students spend a week with their French exchange partners experiencing family life and culture on the beautiful French Riviera. In the past excursions have included Cannes, Monaco, Nice and the beautiful village of St. Paul de. On their return visit students from College La Sine spend a week in the homes of their ‘correspondants’ in Schull and surrounding areas experiencing West Cork hospitality.
German Exchange
This exchange has been running since the early 1990s and has developed into an integral part of the Transition Year programme. Funding from the Post-Primary Languages Initiative was granted for a three year-cycle, in 2018, which has enabled more students to participate in the programme.
During the exchange programme students spend their mornings in one of Germany’s largest secondary schools, following the regular school timetable. In the afternoon student engage in sight-seeing and cultural activities with their exchange partners allowing them to develop their language skills and forge new friendships.
